Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Student Support Center?

The Student Support Center is a drop-in counseling and resource center for students. It is a safe place you can go for help and support for all types of problems. These are just some of the issues that students have when they come see us in the Student Support Center:
  • Friendship and Relationship concerns
  • Problems with classes/teachers
  • Conflicts with other students
  • Communication problems with parents and/or siblings
  • Sadness regarding death or illness in the family
  • Personal issues that are causing stress

We offer help in the form of individual counseling, student groups, mentoring and peer mediation depending on your specific needs and the situation

If I have a problem how do I get to see someone in the Student Support Center?

We are available Monday-Friday 7:30a-2:45p. The easiest way to see us is to stop by and make an appointment. You can also do this during any free time you have in your schedule. If none of these work, write us a quick note and we will find you!

What if I have a problem that needs to be taken care of right away?

This is one of the most important times to seek help. If you have a crisis or conflict that needs to be addressed immediately, ask your teacher or administrator for a pass to the Student Support Center. Let us know that this is a crisis and we will make it a point to see you at that time.

What is peer mediation and how can it help me?

Peer Mediation is one of the best and easiest ways to resolve conflicts and concerns with other students. Peer Mediators are fellow MHS students who have been trained to resolve other student conflicts through peer mediation. If you are having a problem wtih a friend or another student that is getting too big for you to handle alone, peer mediation can help you better understand and resolve your conflict in a nonjudgmental and confidential environment.

If you are having a conflict with a student that needs to be resolved right away, please let us know so that we can set up your Peer Mediation as soon as possible!

How can I get involved in the Student Support Center?

As a student you are one of our most valuable resources in helping other students. If you are interested in getting more involved, please let us know. There are many programs going on all year that require the enthusiasm and motivation of students just like you in leadership positions.
